Our drug of choice during this movie is ecstasy. We first see a drug drop happening by putting some coffins in the ocean and then someone else coming and picking them up. The drop accidentally coincides with a KKK meeting, and our old friends Mike and Marcus shoot a lot of people and don't get the big bust they were hoping for.
Back in the sweaty town of Miami, we meet Marcus' sister, Syd (Gabrielle Union!) who is an undercover DEA agent from New York and is also secretly dating Mike. She gets involved in an operation in which she is money laundering for a big big drug lord from Cuba. The Miami Police get mixed in and there's lots of craziness because of it.
Marcus just can't handle the pressures anymore, and is deciding to transfer out of his current position and partnership for something less stressful and life threatening. After setting up a meeting with some Russian drug people, Syd gets chased around by some Haitians wanting to steal her money(or something) and the DEA and our Bad Boys also join in on the chase. This gun fight/chase scene seriously lasted like 20 minutes. That's way too long for the first car chase of the movie. That needs to be saved for like the final battle scene.
This is when the boys realize that Syd is not the paper pusher they thought her to be.
Mike and Marcus realize that Johnny Tapia is mixed up with Syd and this coffin business. They tap his phones and learn that he has a pest problem so they go to plant bugs in his house. Marcus freaks out about the rats while Mike keeps his cool as always. While there the Russians meet with the Cubans and one of them gets chopped up into lots of pieces and thrown in a bucket. Oops!
M&M connect the dots that since Tapia's family runs a mortuary maybe they are transporting drugs/money through the business. Ding ding ding! They are right and get into a car chase involving them running over corpses. Gross. Speaking of gross, I found this movie to be a lot gorier than the first. I had to look away and freak out on numerous occasions.
Soon Marcus and Mike sneak in to the mortuary and search through the coffins and bodies and find the drugs and money they are looking for. They've got all the evidence they need to send Tapia away. Unfortunately Tapia has a grip on Syd as they are supposedly doing business together.
The big bust goes down with lots of different people helping M&M. For once they did something right, the legal with, without destroying the whole city! Unfortunately Tapia takes off with Syd to Cuba where there is no much M&M can legally do.
Oh Well! That doesn't stop them! They get help from some DEA, CIA, Coast Guard and other people. They sneak into Cuba and raid Tapia's mansion. They kill lots of people and blow the entire mansion up. They escape barely with Syd and must escape since their original plan is ruined. They steal a Hummer and speed along to a US Naval Base, desperate for American soil. After crashing through a cocaine-making shantee town, they just barely make it to the Base, with Tapia and Co right behind. Unfortunately they are standing on a barrier with lots of land mines throughout. Tapia's back up gets blown up and Marcus shoots him in the forehead and then his corpse gets blown up.
All the good guys lived, and it wasn't the end of the world when Marcus found out about Syd and Mike. This movie was pretty funny as well. All in all, aside from the cheesy Michael Bay shots that seem to be the only type of cinematography he knows how to shoot, it was a pretty good movie.
Andrew's Closing Thought: Same amount of action, but more laughs than the original
