Frosty Returns

This was a hidden movie in the giant collection Andrew got me. It was produced by Lorne Michaels, and uses voices belonging to John Goodman and Brian Doyle Murray.

The kind of cartoon drawing that it uses looks a lot like the styles of Charlie Brown and the gang. The music in it is also terrible .

We come across a small town named Beansboro in which the adults hate snow! The kids absolutely love it as they get to play and miss school. While the kids are out playing on their snow day, we meet a little girl named Holly who is an aspiring magician. Her one friend named Charles is a scientist, and so they sometimes have fights as to the reality of things. Holly loses her magicians hat in a gust of wind and runs off to go find it. Well she eventually finds it, sitting atop the head of a giant snow man who's alive! They become fast friends but are then interrupted by her mom using some aerosol spray called Summer Wheeze that instantly evaporates snow.

Summer Wheeze was created by this big whig named Mr. Twitchell, who's grand plan is to become so popular with the creation of Summer Wheeze that the townsfolk will make him  king. Ummm what? Later on we learn that he meant to be crowned King of the Winter Festival.

The adults totally embrace Summer Wheeze and its de-snowing properties. Soon the town is dry, except for the ice castle that Frosty is hiding in. Holly and Charles are freaking out trying to figure out how to save frosty, and basically the best solution is to wait until it snows during the Winter Festival.  Holly and Charles present Frosty to the town as an example of the magic of winter. The town instantly falls in love with Frosty and declares him King. Twitchell is super jealous and tries to destroy Frosty. He fails, but is shown mercy and kindness by Frosty and becomes a good guy. All is well in the town of Beansboro.

The movie has a deeper message about the environment. It emphasizes that snow is just as important to the earth and ecosystems as rain and sunshine are.

It was not the best movie in the world, but Andrew thoroughly enjoyed it because of two of his favorite actors lending there voices. One highlight was listening to Brian Doyle Murray rap about there no longer being any snow.

Andrew's Closing Thought: John Goodman is the best snowman ever
